Many years ago he poled himself out of the bayou. He sweltered on that first primitive offshore rig out of Morgan City. Later it was the Nigerian coast . . . the Indonesian Archipelago . . . the Persian Gulf. There are two fingers missing on his left hand . . . only his best friends call him “Coonass”. He’s pitted his experience . . . his determination . . . and most probably, his life . . . against the North Sea. He’s come back home a winner.
